MANAGEMENT

Laurent Maury, CFA

Managing Director and founder of Clarity Partners

Laurent Maury holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economic Sciences specialising in Finance from Geneva University, as well as a Master’s degree in International Management from the HEC Business School in Lausanne. He took over management of a family firm which he quickly diversified and helped grow. This success allowed him to take onboard the many diverse challenges faced by entrepreneurs, as well as the need for bespoke financial advice. Laurent decided to combine his experience with his interest in finance and joined the banking sector to offer solutions adapted to the financial circumstances of company directors (entrepreneurs and the private sector).

As a CFA, he has continued his career as an analyst and relationship manager with large financial institutions such as UBS, HSBC, and Lombard Odier. His strong listening skills, combined with his unique individual management style, paved the way towards the development of private clientele. He established many contacts at both local and international level who appreciate his entrepreneurial vision.

To offer holistic and independent advice, Laurent founded Clarity Partners, an independent wealth management company. This agile and innovative firm has allowed him to offer a bespoke service. He has surrounded himself with specialists from various financial sectors, and proposes a holistic style of management that perfectly suits the values and objectives of clients.

Pierre Goguelat, CFA

Chief Investment Officer

Pierre Goguelat graduated from Nice Polytechnic Specialist Higher Education Institute with an Engineering degree in Applied Mathematics and Modelling. After developing risk models for hedge funds with KPMG, he decided to specialise in finance. Pierre then graduated from a Master’s degree in Asset Management at Paris Dauphine University where he met some of the leading figures in institutional finance (pension funds, insurance, hedge fund managers, etc.). Subsequently, Pierre obtains his CFA which allows him to further expand his financial knowledge.

Thanks to his intellectual baggage, he joined CNP Assurances as part of the asset allocation team for life-insurance portfolios. Pierre then joined the Quantitative Alternative Investment Management team at Lombard Odier Investment Managers (LOIM) before joining the bond team of the bank to advise both institutional and private clients.

His deep-rooted experience of various asset classes led him to work for a single family office, where he developed and implemented an investment policy that met the specific requirements of the group.

Having worked alongside Laurent several years previously, Pierre was immediately at ease with the business idea and values championed by Clarity Partners. He joined the company to take on the role of Investment Director.

Julien Leegenhoek

CEO of Taranis

Julien Leegenhoek CEO of Taranis Lead Portfolio Manager of Taranis Market Sentiment, a quantitative Hedge Fund specialized in measuring investors mood to understand market patterns, Julien participates to Clarity Partner’s Investment Committee as a guest specialist. Julien graduated from ESSEC Business School in Paris. He quickly became aware that markets could remain inefficient for some time due to strong emotional biases from investors.

He started his career in London at FrontPoint Partners, a well-known hedge fund, before joining Lombard Odier lnvestment Managers in 2010 as a technology analyst and portfolio manager of the 1798 Long Short Multi Strategy Fund and of the long only technology fund. The team’s reputation grew quickly based on positive returns year on year on the long / short strategy. In addition, the very strong performances on the tech fund made them win the Lipper Award of the best tech fund in Europe over three years amid long only peers.

Then, Julien took the responsibility for the USD 700 million technology franchise of Union Bancaire Privée. He was notably the lead portfolio manager of the AI certificate (Artificial Intelligence), the flagship investment vehicle of the bank. Julien confirmed, once again, that markets are sometimes strongly driven by sentiment, before returning to reality where economic facts prevail.

As a result, Julien developed his proprietary model to gauge sentiment which allowed him to substantially improve his performances as a fund manager. To prove his point Julien created Taranis a fund which strongly outperformed its peers and gained him the 2022 Wealth Briefing European Awards for the best fund manager. Julien and his team also manage a tech / AI fund based on this market sentiment model.

Edouard Crestin-Billet

Institutional Client Director

Edouard holds a Master’s degree in Finance from Geneva University, and began his career with Société de Banque Suisse in Geneva. As Director and a member of the Strategic Investment Committee, he created the Active Advisory Team for the entire UBS Wealth Management division in 1996.

On the strength of this experience, he would go on to join Edouard Constant bank as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) before becoming chief strategist and director of financial analysis and institutional management with Mirabaud & Cie. He then founded CB Institutionnel, an independent company that specialises in investment consultancy and is dedicated to institutional clients, which he continues to manage to this day.

As a pension fund and socially responsible investments specialist, Edouard brings his expertise and consultancy skills to Clarity Partners. Both private and professional clients benefit from his asset allocation model.

Edouard also teaches at the ESPP (Higher Institute for Professional Providence), so as to prepare candidates for the Federal Diploma for specialists in employee providence.

DIRECTORS

Jürg Egli

Chairman of the Board of Directors

Jürg Egli holds a law degree and is registered with the Geneva Bar Association, and is a specialist in banking and financial law, an area that would become fundamental for financial institutions in the 1990s.

He would begin his career with BSI Group before joining JP Morgan Suisse, in the position of Resident Counsel. Thanks to this international experience, Jürg then joined Pictet & Cie to become the Group General Counsel and Group Corporate Secretary.

Throughout his career, he has supported the development of banking and financial regulations in Switzerland with the Diligence Convention, then the opening-up of the Swiss financial sector to international fiscal transparency. Jürg is a much-respected specialist in European and American tax, thanks to his active involvement in implementing the US Qualified Intermediary Agreement, the FATCA Regulation with the USA, and the Global Automatic Exchange of Information.

Drawn to the enthusiasm of a team of high-level experts dedicated to the satisfaction of exacting clients and the achievement of their objectives, Jürg willingly agreed to take up the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors at Clarity Partners.

Laurent Boussat

Independent Director

After completing studies in Economic Sciences and receiving a Master’s degree in Business Management from the HEC Business School in Lausanne, Laurent began his career in the banking IT sector. With the advent of the internet, he realised the importance that new technologies would take on in our society.

He went on to join large multinationals such as Ascom, Alcatel, and Cisco. In this highly complex area of corporate telecommunications, and in close collaboration with highly qualified engineers, he was involved in the digital transformation brought about by networking capabilities. He subsequently went on to hold commercial management positions that led him to develop new markets and re-structure sales divisions.

Today, Laurent is a consultant with start-ups and SMEs and is highly appreciated for his detailed analytical skills and objective viewpoint, which allow him to draw up strategic development plans for clients and ensure their proper implementation.

Compliance

Melina Dimitrakakis

Compliance Officer

Melina holds a Master’s degree in Law and CAS (Compliance in Financial Services) from Geneva University.

She kickstarted her career in Geneva as a Compliance Officer with UBP (Union Bancaire Privée), where she specialised in combating money laundering activities. Melina then went on to join Pictet Asset Management SA and gained expertise as a Compliance Manager with institutional clients, collective investment mechanisms, trading, and rules applicable to US clients. Melina then became Chief Compliance Officer at Pictet North America Advisors SA, a Swiss entity registered with the SEC in the USA and dedicated to asset management for private American clients.

Throughout her 15-year career in corporate compliance, including 10 years in a US regulatory setting, Melina has accumulated a wide range of skills and deep-rooted experience in local and international regulations that allowed her to create Swiss Compliance Services in 2018.

For Clarity Partners, faced with the current complex regulatory situation, her pragmatic compliance approach firmly focused on business is an undeniable asset guaranteeing absolute respect of regulations in force.
